The FUN Foundation’s objective is to help improve the living conditions of children in the Gambian village of Aljamdu with focus on education, healthcare and sports. We aim to realise this by establishing a primary school equipped with a kitchen as well as solar panels and a water well. It is in this way that we hope to add to the joy and enrich the future of youths from one of Gambia’s poorest regions.
Education is a crucial aspect of a child’s development. In Gambia education is not obligatory, children must walk a minimum of 40 minutes each day to just get to school. This task is almost impossible in the local heat, resulting in the great majority of children missing out on an education. The construction of a primary school in immediate environments is pure necessity to be able to offer these children some kind of a future.
